SIMPLE KINETIC THEORY OF MATTER

This lesson provides the correction of a previous assignment on the difference between boiling and evaporation and the name given to the process when iodine turns directly into a gas (sublimation). He defines the kinetic theory of matter stating that matter is made of tiny particles, the particles have space between them, attract one another, and are constantly moving. The plan for the lesson includes objectives, prerequisites, a life situation, an activity, the theory, evaluation, assignment, and references. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to state the simple kinetic theory and use it to explain states of matter and state change. He also reviewed the states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) and how energy must be added or removed to change state. He ended with a chemical equation lesson for the students to complete.
