THE CONCEPT OF ORAL LITERATURE

This segment of the literature lesson begins at [01:10] and introduces the teacher, lesson, and literary program for Form One students. The program consists of five modules, which will be outlined as the video progresses. The first module, exploring oral African literary forms for entertainment and education, will consist of identifying and classifying oral literature, using literature to entertain and teach, as well as learning to retell stories and make them your own. Module Two focuses on literature as a vehicle for socio-cultural, moral, and civic awareness, then Module Three focuses on literature and creativity in the use of language. Next, Module Four will explore elements of writing, such as plot, character, and theme. Finally, Module Five goes over enjoying literature in print and in media.
